“This program doesn’t just help students traumatized by homelessness and housing insecurities, but also a benefit for older homeowners –especially those living alone–ward off isolation.”

Maggie was feeling isolated from everyone due to COVID. She also strongly believes in education for housing insecure students. She was interested in our HomeShare OC program to help students living out of their cars locate a safe environment so they could continue their education. She volunteered to be one of the hosts, and got matched with a student.

Due to COVID and her having an underlying health condition, this program offered her a safe opportunity to house a student, and after a few walks together outside with masks and COVID testing, the student moved in. Since that time the student has been delightful to have around the house for companionship. The student is studying business, and since Maggie used to consult for businesses she’s always interested in learning more about their studies.
