Mary’s Story

Mary’s Story

“I will always be grateful for the opportunity that HIS-OC has given me to put my life back together and have my kids in my life. I couldn’t ask for anything more. So blessed!”

Mary was misdiagnosed by her psychiatrist and was given the wrong medications for 3 years. She feared she was going to lose everything, her kids and her house, because she was unable to take care of herself. Right after she got evicted her kids were taken away from her. She was always wondering where she was going to sleep every night and how she was going to be able to afford food. She didn’t know how to survive without a job, car, and house, and if she didn’t make a change quickly, she would lose her kids forever.

We were that change. Mary was accepted into our Transitional Housing Program, a 4-6 month program that provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families to begin rebuilding their lives. We helped her by providing shelter and parenting classes, and she used our resources to achieve her goals. She got her kids back, graduated from our program, and is now living in her own apartment with her daughters.
